Digital Foundation Series
Your domain name, email & website work together.
Your domain name, email, and website are separate business assets that work together.
These focused assessments help you answer four basic questions about each one:
- Who owns it?
- Where does it live?
- Who has access?
- Who do you call, or where do you turn, if something goes wrong?
The series focuses on these three core assets — getting them organized, documented, and easier to manage so you have the peace of mind of knowing where things are and what to do when you need help.
“Every business owner should contact Mary, the ‘digital detective,’ for SO MUCH peace of mind on their digital assets!”
— Debbie Stratton
It starts with your domain name
Before I assess email or a website, I start with the domain name. Both email and your website eventually lead back to it: ownership, access, DNS, and the services connected to it.
That’s why the Domain Name Assessment always comes first. From there, we can move into Email, Website, or both, depending on what matters most to your business.
Cleanup is included
Each assessment is more than a report.
I’ll correct what can reasonably be handled within the review. Anything more involved becomes a clear next-step recommendation or separate scope.
You’ll receive documentation of your setup, what was corrected, and what, if anything, should happen next.
The goal is simple: you know what you have, where it is, who can access it, and where to turn if something goes wrong.
Domain Name
Assessment- Know who controls your domain name and what’s connected to it.
- Your domain name connects your website, email, and often other services behind the scenes. Over time, domain accounts can collect old vendors, outdated records, forgotten services, incorrect forwarding, or access no one is quite sure about.
- I’ll look at who owns and controls your domain name, where it’s registered and managed, renewals, access, and what’s connected to it.
- Typical cleanup includes updating account information, fixing forwarding, addressing exposed personal contact information where needed, and clearing out outdated settings.
- Related parked or forwarding domains can usually be reviewed as part of the same engagement. More complex or separately active domains may require additional scope.
- Know where your business email lives, who controls it, and who to call if something goes wrong.
- Business email is easy to take for granted until there’s a problem. Over time, accounts can collect old users, confusing access, extra licenses, or outdated billing.
- I’ll look at where your email is hosted, who administers it, who has access, what accounts and services are in place, what you’re paying for, and how support and recovery work.
- Typical cleanup includes updating account information, clarifying access, and identifying and cleaning up obviously unused accounts or licenses.
- Base pricing assumes a smaller email environment, generally up to five active users or mailboxes. Larger or more complex setups may require additional scope.
Website
Assessment- Know where your website lives, who controls it, and who to call if it suddenly has a problem.
- A website involves several pieces: hosting, platform access, backups, security, support, billing, and outside vendors. Over time, those pieces can become scattered or unclear.
- A website involves several pieces: hosting, platform access, backups, security, support, billing, and outside vendors. Over time, those pieces can become scattered or unclear.
- Typical cleanup includes updating account information, clarifying access, correcting basic setup issues, and addressing obvious maintenance or backup gaps where possible.
- Base pricing assumes one website on a standard platform. E-commerce sites, custom builds, or multiple sites may require additional scope.
Know where things are. Know who to call.
One client described the result this way after getting her digital assets organized:
“Now we have an amazing manual that can be passed along to anyone in the company for troubleshooting and support.”
— Zamar Screen Printing
That’s ultimately what this work is about: less uncertainty, clearer ownership and access, and the peace of mind that your digital business isn’t dependent on one person simply remembering how everything works.
